I’m not sure why I’m here.

I know I’m not supposed to say that. I’m supposed to promote myself. But I want to be honest.

I’m here, I suppose, because I enjoy writing and reading. I want to learn and grow. And I want to record and share this process. Though that scares me a bit.

I don’t exactly like talking about myself. But I realize that I’m going to have to get over that at some point.

I do like writing about what matters to me and what interests me.

I’ve recently discovered something called BookTube (YouTubers who love books). This has sparked my curiosity and interest in the idea of community and connection through shared interests. I’m not yet brave enough to begin making my own videos. And if I did, they would most likely not include images of me. Not for a while. That would be really brave.

I should have done this years ago, but I didn’t.

I’m here now for what it’s worth.

Perhaps others might find my journey as a reader, a writer, and a human interesting and helpful.

I am thinking about linking my Pinterest and Tumblr at some point. But I haven’t had time. And my Instagram is blank. For now Twitter will do.

You will find quite a bit of poetry here. I participate in writing prompts with other bloggers, and most of the prompts are poetry related.

I write short fiction on occasion, as well as memoir.

It’s been many years since I have been able to read avidly and consistently, and I am hoping to share more of my journey back into reading. This will include all sorts of thoughts, opinions and posts on the books I own, borrow, buy and read (or am interested in reading).

I’m new at most of this. But I do have a bookish background. I have a BA in English. My favorite genres are classics and literary fiction. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to do much reading in these genres since college.

I began my journey back to reading with poetry and non-fiction. The non-fiction I read is primarily spirituality, psychology, and personal growth. Mainly because it’s been such a help to me in recent years.

My intent, however, is to once again explore and enjoy the world of fiction.

Sometimes I will share bits of my journaling, dreams, random thoughts, and observations.

Oh, and the photos are mine also, unless otherwise noted.

Comments and questions are welcome. I’m an introvert, but I do look forward to connecting with others who share my interests in reading and writing.
